The Characters
Tito (tenor) – Emperor of Rome. Kind and compassionate, he is capable of forgiving even those who conspire against him.
Vitellia (soprano) – Daughter of Aulus Vitellius, the former Emperor of Rome. She hopes to marry Tito and become Empress, but his plans to wed other women drive her to plot his murder.
Servilia (soprano) – Sesto’s sister. She is in love with Annio.
Sesto (mezzo-soprano) – Tito’s good friend, in love with Vitellia.
Annio (mezzo-soprano) – Sesto’s close friend, in love with Servilia.
Publio (bass) – Captain of the Guard. He is hard-hearted and determined to bring those who would threaten the Emperor to justice.
